How this tool works

Conversion rate = conversions ÷ visitors or eligible interactions × 100.

Understand the result

Choose one denominator consistently. If counting multiple conversion actions per interaction, the result can exceed 100%. This calculator does not judge whether a rate is good or bad.

How to use the Conversion Rate Calculator

  1. Enter visitors or eligible interactions. This is the group that had the chance to convert — for example website sessions, landing page visitors, ad clicks or email recipients who opened your message.
  2. Enter conversions. The number of times the action you care about happened: purchases, sign-ups, contact form submissions, WhatsApp chats started or calls.
  3. Press Calculate to see the conversion rate as a percentage.

The formula

Conversion rate = Conversions ÷ Visitors (or interactions) × 100

Worked examples

  • Online store: 4,200 sessions and 63 orders in a month. 63 ÷ 4,200 × 100 = 1.5%.
  • Landing page for a service: 800 visitors and 24 enquiry forms. Conversion rate = 3%.
  • Google Ads campaign: 1,250 clicks and 50 conversions. Conversion rate = 4%.

Choosing the right denominator

The most common mistake is mixing different denominators. Sessions, users and clicks are not the same thing: one user can visit several times, and one click can create a session that is later counted differently by your analytics tool. Pick one measure and use it consistently every time you compare periods or pages.

If you count every conversion action (for example, two purchases in one session), the rate can go above 100% in rare cases. That is not an error, but it does mean you are measuring conversions per interaction rather than the share of people who converted.

What is a good conversion rate?

It depends heavily on your industry, price point, traffic source and what you count as a conversion. A free newsletter sign-up will convert far better than a high-priced product. Instead of chasing a number you read online, track your own rate over time and test changes against it.

Practical ways to improve conversion rate

  • Match the ad to the page. If the ad promises a specific product or offer, land visitors on that product, not the homepage.
  • Speed up the page. Slow mobile pages lose visitors before they see the offer. Compress images with our image compressor.
  • Show trust signals. Clear contact details, delivery times, return policy and real reviews reduce hesitation.
  • Remove friction. Fewer form fields, guest checkout and familiar payment options (including cash on delivery where customers expect it).
  • Write a clear call to action. “Order now — delivered in 3–5 days” works better than a vague “Submit”.

Frequently asked questions

Should I calculate conversion rate per channel?

Yes. Traffic from Google search, Facebook ads, Instagram and email behaves differently. A blended rate can hide a channel that performs very well or very badly.

How many visitors do I need for a reliable number?

Small numbers swing a lot. With only a few dozen visitors, one extra sale can change the rate dramatically. Wait for at least a few hundred visitors and a reasonable number of conversions before drawing conclusions.
