Weighted grade calculator
Enter scores and relative weights. Blank rows are ignored.
Final exam calculator
Your current grade must represent all work outside the remaining assessment.
How weighted grades are calculated
Multiply each grade by its weight, add those products and divide by the sum of the entered weights. Coursework at 80 with weight 40 and an exam at 90 with weight 60 gives (80 × 40 + 90 × 60) ÷ 100 = 86. Weights can be relative values; they do not have to add to 100 for the average calculation.
The final-exam calculation uses: required score = [target − current × (1 − exam weight)] ÷ exam weight. An 80 current mark, an 85 target and a final worth 25% require 100 on that final. The tool flags a required score outside the chosen scale.
Using this in the US, UK or Germany
Percentage mode does not assume US letter-grade cutoffs or a UK degree classification. German numeric mode accepts 1 to 6 and treats lower numbers as better. Actual assessment weights, pass rules, exemptions and rounding depend on your institution. This is a planning calculator, not an official transcript or automatic conversion between national systems.
Frequently asked questions
Are blank assessments treated as zero?
A completely blank grade/weight row is ignored. A partially filled row produces an error so an omitted weight cannot silently change your result.
Does this decide whether I pass?
No. Enter the actual grading scale and weighting your institution uses. Separate minimum-exam marks and other progression rules are not evaluated.
