Choose JPG or PNG
JPG is a practical choice for ordinary photographs and offers adjustable quality. PNG is lossless for the converted pixels and can create much larger files. Converting to PNG does not restore detail already absent from the HEIC source.
The decoder is loaded from jsDelivr only when you start conversion. The library runs in your browser; this widget does not send photo bytes to a conversion server. The CDN receives the normal request needed to deliver its script. Conversion depends on your device memory and the decoder’s support for the particular HEIC encoding.
Some newer HEIC variants, damaged files, auxiliary images or special sequences may fail. A failure is reported per file, while supported files continue. Embedded EXIF metadata is not retained. Review orientation, colour and the result before sharing; keep your originals.
Frequently asked questions
Why does one image fail while another works?
HEIC files can use different encodings and features. This decoder does not support every variant. Exporting JPEG from the original device is an alternative for unsupported files.
Is JPG quality the same as a target file size?
No. The quality slider controls JPEG compression quality, not an exact KB target. PNG does not use that slider.
