Convert images to WebP, right here in your browser.

  2. Adjust the settings for your store or publishing needs.
  3. Process, compare and download your images.

A few useful details

Original files stay unchanged. Browser memory may limit very large images. This tool processes static images and does not preserve EXIF metadata or animation.

What is WebP?

WebP is a modern image format developed by Google. It produces noticeably smaller files than JPG and PNG at similar visual quality, and it supports transparency like PNG. Smaller images mean faster pages, lower mobile data use for your visitors and better page-speed scores. All major modern browsers — Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge — support WebP.

How to use the JPG & PNG to WebP converter

  1. Drop up to 10 JPG, PNG or WebP images into the upload area (up to 15 MB each).
  2. Set the quality. 80–85% suits most photos. For logos and graphics with flat colours you can often go lower without visible change.
  3. Process the images and compare the before and after file sizes.
  4. Download each image or all of them as a ZIP file.

PNG transparency is preserved, so logos and cut-out product images keep their transparent background.

How much smaller will my images be?

It depends on the image. Photos converted from JPG are often 25–35% smaller. Graphics converted from PNG can shrink much more. Images that are already heavily compressed may only shrink a little; in that case, keep whichever version looks better at the smallest size.

Using WebP on your website

  • WordPress supports uploading WebP images to the Media Library. Many caching and image plugins can also serve WebP automatically.
  • Shopify automatically serves optimised formats like WebP to supported browsers from the images you upload, so converting first is mainly useful to save storage or control quality.
  • Custom sites can use WebP directly in <img> tags, or offer a JPG fallback with the <picture> element for very old browsers.

When not to use WebP

  • When you are sending files to a printer — print shops usually expect JPG, PNG, TIFF or PDF.
  • When a platform or marketplace you upload to does not accept WebP. Check its image requirements first.
  • When you need to keep an editable master copy — keep the original high-quality file and use WebP only for publishing.

Privacy

Conversion runs entirely in your browser. Files are never uploaded to our server.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert WebP back to JPG?

Yes, but converting back and forth reduces quality each time. Keep your original files.

Does WebP help SEO?

Indirectly. Faster-loading pages give a better user experience, which is part of how search engines evaluate pages.
